Wood Fired Hot Tub Policy

A Legal Disclaimer

Please read before booking or using the hot tub
We want every guest to enjoy the wood-fired hot tub safely.
All guests must read and follow this policy, the safety notices displayed beside the hot tub and any instructions provided by Patty’s Barn.
The hot tub is a fresh-fill, non-circulating tub with no pump, jets or filtration. It is filled with fresh mains water for one booked group and is completely drained, cleaned and disinfected after the bathing session.

Wood Fired Hot Tub Policy

Before entering
  • Never use the hot tub alone.
  • Shower and use the toilet before entering.
  • Wash dirt from your feet.
  • Wear swimwear only.
  • Do not enter with creams, oils, makeup, spray tan or sun lotion on your skin.
  • Keep glass, food, smoking materials and sharp objects away from the tub.
  • Do not use the tub after a heavy meal.
  • Do not use the tub while under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, sedatives or anything that may impair your judgement.

  • Check the thermometer before anyone enters.
  • The recommended adult bathing temperature is 36–38°C.
  • Never enter the water if it is above 40°C.
  • Stop adding logs before the target temperature is reached because the water may continue heating.
  • Do not rely on adding cold water unless the whole tub can be thoroughly mixed and the temperature checked again in more than one place.
  • Do not use the tub if the thermometer is missing, damaged or giving an unreliable reading.
While using the hot tub
  • Keep your head above the water.
  • Do not jump, dive or deliberately submerge your head.
  • Limit each bathing period to 15 minutes, then get out and cool down.
  • Leave immediately if you feel dizzy, faint, sick, breathless, confused or overheated.
  • Do not urinate in the water.
  • Take particular care when entering and leaving because the steps and surrounding surfaces may be slippery.
  • Follow any additional instructions given by Patty’s Barn staff.
Children
  • Children under five must not use the hot tub.
  • Children aged five and over must be supervised continuously by a responsible adult.
  • When children use the hot tub, the water must not exceed 35°C.

Pregnant guests, immunocompromised guests and people with heart, circulation, respiratory or other relevant medical conditions should obtain medical advice before using the hot tub.
Stop using the tub immediately if you feel unwell.
Wood-burner safety

  • Do not use the burner if it is damaged, leaking, producing abnormal smoke or behaving unexpectedly.
  • Follow the separate wood-burner instructions displayed beside the hot tub.
  • The QR-code video is supplementary guidance and does not replace the written safety instructions.
Cover and draining
  • Remove the cover completely before entering the hot tub.
  • Keep the cover and straps safely away from the burner and flue.
  • Replace the cover only as directed and when it is safe to do so.
  • Guests must not drain the hot tub.
  • Patty’s Barn staff will drain it after the booked bathing session.
